Christoffel Park and Shete Boka

The Christoffel Park in Bandabou is Curaçao's largest national park. For the active hiker, climbing Mount Christoffel (372 meters high) is a unique challenge. Tip: start early in the morning to avoid the fierce sun. From the top, you'll enjoy an unparalleled 360-degree view of the island.

Right next to the Christoffel Park lies the spectacular Shete Boka National Park on the north coast. Here, nature shows its raw power: towering waves from the turbulent Caribbean Sea crash with a thunderous roar against the volcanic rocks. Explore the impressive Boka Tabla, an underground cave where the waves roll in.

Wild Inhabitants of the Island

Flamingos: In the historic salt pans of Jan Kok, Rif Sint Marie, and Sint Willibrordus, you can spot large groups of bright pink, wild flamingos.
Iguanas: The majestic green and brown iguanas are often seen sunbathing on walls and rocks. Beautiful to look at (and harmless, as long as you leave them alone).
Tropical Birds: The island teems with bright yellow sugar birds, Trupials (with their orange bellies), and green parakeets.
